A Place to Sleep

Project Details

Inspired by the movie, The Blind Side, 10-yr-old Jessica Collins was determined in 2009 to provide a bed for someone who didn’t have one, preferably a child. Working with the her church family, not only did she provide one, but a place to sleep for 6 children. Driven by this success, she expanded into Shelby County and is working with the local school system to identify needs. The goal is to help as many children as possible when the needs arise. Jessica has since met Leigh Anne Tuohy and received donations from MIHF.  The teen is hopeful she, too, can inspire others, as Tuohy inspired her.  Now an official ministry of First Presbyterian Church, A Place to Sleep has provided beds for 402 children as of 6/18/2014.
