Yesterday as I took a few minutes to reflect on all the things that I am truly thankful for, you guys were at the top of my list. I mean that! Thank you all so very much for journeying with me over the past year. Thank you for your kind words, support, encouragement. Thank you for sharing the posts each week and talking about and inquiring about all the kids we have posted. And oh my gosh…thank you to each and everyone one of you that have stepped up and helped us to provide Christmas for so many of our #ForeverFamilyFriday kids. As of today you all have supplied ALL gifts for 17 kids. We are getting closer each day to reaching our goal! How exciting is that. Please please, please continue to share the wish lists so EVERY one of these kids will have a reason to smile and believe in the goodness of others this Christmas season.

Please meet Nathan! He is 16 and lives in Arizona. Nathan is easily entertained by different craft projects – especially making slime. He has a great sense of humor and delights in teasing people and getting teased. When Nathan isn’t spending time outside, you can find him playing video games on his Xbox. Nathan’s favorite class is science, and one of his best memories of school was when he built a replica of Earth with moveable plates to understand how earthquakes happen. Nathan loves chocolate milk, and he will never turn down a visit to his favorite restaurant—Golden Corral. We will have to introduce him to Taco Bell!

Omyriah

It’s here!!! No, not Thanksgiving or Christmas! Saturday is National Adoption Day! Woooo Whooo!! I know most of you are starting to prepare to spend time with family and friends for this upcoming holiday season and tomorrow will be the first day that many kids that have been in the system will get to do the same thing with their new “Forever Families.” It will be official. That’s just so exciting to me. And in the spirit of National Adoption Day and also the kicking off of the giving season… we are going to be doing several things that I hope you will be involved with. We have an opportunity to give back. We have an opportunity to provide Christmas and deliver Merry and Bright. We have the opportunity to be the reason these kids smile. If you’ve been journeying along with me the past year…you know my heart goes out to kids who don’t have love or families or opportunities or traditions. Be on the look out Saturday for giveaways and for a wish list that will be game changers to many. As I said…Tomorrow is National Adoption Day but first let’s meet Omyriah. She needs us! 

Omyriah is 17 and lives in South Carolina. She describes herself as funny, smart and helpful. She enjoys new opportunities and is looking forward to a career in nursing. Biology is a favorite subject and her favorite book is “The Coldest Winter Ever.” In her spare time, Omyriah enjoys playing football and watching TV. She hopes to find a nice home with younger siblings and parents who can assist in fulfilling her goals. Thank you for reading this and for having a heart to make a difference! Forever Family Friday week 55 – David

November 12, 2021

We just celebrated Veterans Day and I for one am so thankful for the men and women who serve our country. Thank you Veterans! Our veterans protect us and make us feel safe. We can rest our head on our pillows at night feeling secure because of veterans. We don’t have to watch our back or be fearful. And…that is the job of parents, right? Of family. But the kids we have been sharing each week do not have that security or feeling of safety. On any given day, nearly half a million children are in foster care. They don’t have a forever mom or dad to protect them and make them feel safe. As a community we have the potential to change that. Please meet David. He longs for a family.

David is 13 and lives in Tennessee. When asked what the word family means to him he said “always there…I would love to have someone to be with me because I don’t have that right now.” It is our prayer that his forever family finds him! When David grows up he wants to be a police officer because they save lives! He is generally happy-go lucky and enjoys the outdoors, especially riding his bike and jumping in puddles. He is not a big sports fan but will shoot the basketball if he is playing with others. David loves playing with remote control cars and can be very creative when needed. He once was playing a board game with his case manager and it was missing some parts, so David made up rules for the game so they could continue playing! David can be quiet but does warm up to people fairly quickly. He needs a home with stability to assist him in meeting his life goals.​ Don’t we all?! David needs you to talk about him this week. Please meet Ashunte. She is 15 and lives in Alabama. She is described as smart and sweet, and a very talented artist who loves to draw. She advocates for herself and is persistent and determined! Ashunte works hard in school, is well liked by her peers, and loves helping others. Curious and eager to learn new things, Ashunte loves electronics and reading, and wants to be a teacher when she grows up! Forever Family Friday week 53 – Anthony

October 29, 2021

Happy Halloween weekend everyone! I love this time of year and it always brings back such special memories. I would start thinking about what the kids would be for Halloween in July. One year they were a pair of dice. One year they were a cowboy and a queen. It was always something fun. Then they got older and had opinions and it crushed me but we still managed to have a good time. Sean would go through all their candy like an FBI agent. I think that little ploy was to eat the candy as he searched through it. My parents did all this with my brother and me. Great memories. But for the child in foster care, who makes their costume? Who goes through their candy haul…if trick or treating is even an option for them? Who ensures that they are not traumatized or triggered by something relating to Halloween? How many kids in foster care day after day feel like they have more tricks than treats? Well one number that is no trick is 14! Because we have 14 confirmed children that we have shared over the past year have been matched! That is a HUGE treat! And there’s more to come! If it was one child it would be awesome but 14 and counting is so exciting! Please share Anthony this week and let’s try to ensure that his Halloweens and every holiday here after is filled with warm fuzzy family moments! We can do it with your help! 

Anthony is 14 and loves sports, especially football. He is also tech-savvy and enjoys music and dancing. Although he can be a picky eater, he likes to cook and help out in the kitchen. His favorite food to eat is McDonald’s. We will have to introduce him to Taco Bell! Anthony gets along well with other children if he is in a healthy and supportive environment, and enjoys joking around and conversing with others.  Anthony is a very determined child that is motivated when working towards a goal. He has big dreams for his future, and although he is not sure what he wants to be yet, Anthony can do great things with his perseverance and natural ability to be a leader. Ahdrina

October 25, 2021

Ahdrina is 11 years old and is from Arizona. She is very compassionate and bonds easily with people. She enjoys watching cartoons on Disney and Nickelodeon, and her favorite TV show is Dora because she shares her sense of adventure. Ahdrina said that she listens to Christian music because it makes her feel happy. When it’s hot outside, Ahdrina likes to play in the sprinkler or throw a baseball around in the backyard. She is very athletic and says her perfect day would include playing baseball, soccer, gymnastics, and basketball. Ahdrina aspires to go to college and become an FBI agent when she grows up because she likes figuring things out.

Ahdrina is caring and empathetic and has a great sense of humor. She would like her future family to know that she likes to make people happy when they feel sad. Ahdrina thrives on one-on-one attention and will flourish in a family that would allow her to participate in sports. Please share Ahdrina with others. Marcellous and Shaidale

October 15, 2021

Please meet Marcellous and Shaidale. Marcellous is 14 and Shaidale is 13 and these brothers need their forever family! They need love. They need you. They are well behaved and helpful and enjoy spending time with others, going to the park and learning about math at school. Marcellous is loveable, respectful and sociable. He enjoys electronics, bowling, Monopoly and video games. He also enjoys playing football and basketball, listening to rap music, having a barbecue and watching football, especially the Falcons! He looks forward to going to college and possibly becoming a policeman when he grows up. Shaidale loves to ride his bike, play soccer and participate in activities, especially those where he can be the leader. He also enjoys snacks and sweets, playing video games and listening to any kind of music.

These sweet boys from Georgia need a loving adoptive family who will give them the attention, support, encouragement, structure and nurturing environment they need to continue to thrive and reach their goals. Daizy

Daizy is 14 years old and lives in Georgia. She is thoughtful, kind, creative, adventurous, brave and eclectic. She enjoys reading, drawing, playing football, riding bikes and listening to rap, rock and pop music. She said one day she hopes to be an OBGYN…or a rapper! She would like to sing with others and participate in gymnastics. Math is Daizy’s favorite subject and she earns good grades in school!

When asked if she could have 3 wishes she would wish for a family again, a dog, and be able to go hunting. Daizy said she always wanted to  be a part of a family “to have someone to care for me and make me feel warm.” She would love on family night to go camping, hang out or have a movie night!

Aries is 10 years old and lives in Florida. Not only does he have the biggest, sweetest smile that will instantly draw you in, he also has the cutest personality and great manners to boot! Like most boys his age, Aries loves to play outside, ride his bike, dreams of going to Disney World, and hopes to wake up with the super power of being able to fly. His favorite subject in school is algebra and he is pretty proud of earning Student of the Week at his school.
